We have joined the climate change pledge, 10:10, to cut our carbon emissions.
Initiatives at City Lit include:
- ‘Turn off’ signs on all light switches
- Sensor lighting in toilets and corridors
- The BMS (Building Management System) has been reprogrammed to run the building efficiently
- Dyson Air Blades were installed to replace the eco unfriendly pull towel arrangements
- Recycling takes place for all DMR (Dry Mixed Recycling) products including paper products (white & coloured paper, cardboard, magazines, newspapers etc.), plastic and tin cans, also recycled separately are florescent tubes, computer equipment, batteries, mobile phones and print toner cartridges
- Photocopying and printing equipment is supplied by RICOH a company with excellent green credentials
- IT server virtualisation has taken place reducing server count by 75%
- PC’s automatically go into system standby mode when not used for 15 minutes
- PC transformation project has commenced to run thin client on existing PC’s rather than keep replacing
- Bio degradable packaging, cutlery and plates are used by the cafeteria
- There are sensor taps in the ground floor toilets and sensor flushes in the ground and 1st floor ladies toilets
- Low energy LED bulbs are currently being installed to replace halogen bulbs
- Use of Eco branded stationery and paper whose fibre has been sourced from certified forests.
