City Lit launches new training pack - "Observing teaching and learning in adult education"

As leaders in the field, City Lit has just launched a training DVD and handbook designed specifically for adult education practitioners.

Developed for the training of both teachers and observers, the DVD features three types of lessons and provides an invaluable resource for recognising strengths and areas for improvement in adult teaching and learning. The DVD includes examples of both good and bad practice, and lessons are ungraded so that trainees can make judgements and practise grading.

The accompanying 16-page handbook includes lesson overviews, extracts from schemes of work and lesson plans relating to each lesson.

DVD contents

• Lesson 1 (skill-based session) – British Sign Language
• Lesson 2 (practical session) – Printmaking
• Lesson 3 (knowledge-based session) – Russia and Europe 1789-1855

Each film runs for approximately 30 minutes (lessons have been edited from hour-long sessions). All films feature a subtitle option. On-screen British Sign Language interpretation is available for the art and history lessons.
