What is the course about?
This qualification is designed to enable you to communicate with Deaf people in BSL at Level 2 on a range of topics that include everyday language used in family, social or work lives of deaf people. You will work through three units leading to an assessment for each. These courses can be run flexibly at lunchtimes, evenings or weekends.
What level is the course?
Those who have already passed Level 1 in BSL.
What will the course cover? (contents, themes, projects)
Signing skills in BSL Level 2 by:
- Showing a wide range of vocabulary
- Using correct and clear handshapes
- Using suitable facial expressions with signs
- Conducting a conversation with a Deaf person
- Showing turn-taking and asking for clarification
- Telling a short story
- Answering questions on a short story signed
- Making a two minute video signing about a given topic.
