What is the course about?
This course covers three ECDL advanced modules in Word, Excel and Access. If you pass all of these modules you be awarded ECDL Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Using ICT by the British Computer Society.
What level is the course?
This is an advanced course at Level 3. All students are expected to have passed the ECDL certificate course or have relevant experience.
What will the course cover? (contents, themes, projects)
WORD
- Advanced text and paragraph editing
- Working with master and sub documents
- Layout, graphics and drawing
- Templates
- Collaborative editing
- Document security
- Field codes and forms
- Macros.
EXCEL
- Advanced functions (financial; mathematical; functions; text; reference; database and nested functions)
- Advanced formatting such as conditional formatting and paste special
- Advanced formulae
- Named Scenarios and What If
- Linking spreadsheets and other applications
- Advanced sorting e.g. custom sort and advanced filtering
- Data tables (one input and two input), pivot tables and data analysis
- Advanced chart features
- Macros
- Auditing and error messages.
ACCESS
- Planning and designing databases
- Establishing table relationships and modifying relationship properties
- Modifying field properties, set input masks and validation
- Multi-table queries – updating and auctioning
- Creating calculated fields in queries
- Advanced forms
- Producing and modifying advanced reports
- Creating macros and attaching them to forms and reports.
How will I be taught?
Each student has their own computer.
Presentations will be made using computers, whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes.
Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.
