What is the course about?
On this course, you will learn basic skills required for translating from British Sign Language into fluent spoken English.
What level is the course?
You will find the course of most benefit if you are working as a Communication Support worker with Deaf students. You will need a minimum of Level 2 British Sign Language.
What will the course cover? (contents, themes, projects)
- Looking at the common fears and barriers to interpreting from BSL to spoken English
- Sharing coping strategies in a supportive environment
- Exploring key concepts and theories involved when voicing over for a Deaf person
- Voiceover skills in various settings including: one to one conversations, classrooms, interpreting in classes with more than one Deaf student and working within classes with a Deaf tutor.
