Frequently asked questions
Who is City Lit?
City Lit has been delivering training and lifelong learning programmes for over 85 years. We hold the government’s Charter Mark for excellence in customer service, Beacon Status for quality of learning provision and the Investor in People award for staff training and development.
Does the college have modern facilities?
City Lit offers modern, purpose-designed premises in Central London, close to both Holborn and Covent Garden tube stations. In line with the Information and Learning Technology (ILT) strategy, classrooms are equipped with network points, ceiling mounted projectors, interactive whiteboards, plasma screens, and wireless internet. Students can also use the learning centre which has a library and internet access from 30 computers.
What is the maximum/minimum number of delegates allowed per class?
This sometimes depends on accreditation guidelines and on whether your training is held at City Lit or at your own facilities. We aim to be as flexible as possible and in many cases can provide training for just one or two members of staff or for an entire team.
Do you offer training during the evenings/at weekends?
City Lit is open until 10.00pm Monday – Saturday. In some cases we may be able to deliver training either at your premises or at City Lit on Sundays.
How do you guarantee the quality of your training?
City Lit tutors are all professionally trained teachers who are government inspected to ensure quality. Many are recognised as practising experts in their field.
Is your building accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes. Our building is 100% accessible to people using wheelchairs. Classrooms are also fitted with hearing loops so that Deaf people can attend classes throughout the building.
What do you charge for training?
As a not-for-profit organisation we are able to offer outstanding value for money. We will be happy to provide a quote for closed or bespoke training. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and how to make best use of your staff training budget.
What is the nearest tube/train station?
City Lit is five minutes walk from Covent Garden and Holborn tube stations.
Do you have parking facilities?
Unfortunately, there is no car park at City Lit but there are numerous meters in the streets surrounding the college.
Do you offer lunch facilities?
Delegates are provided with lunch and refreshments on all open-scheduled courses, included in the course fee. For non-IT company specific/closed courses, catering can be provided at additional charge (ring for more details), but for IT courses we cannot provide a catering option for health and safety reasons. All delegates have access to our 120 seat restaurant which provides light snacks, and hot and cold meals throughout the day. We cater for all dietary requirements.
