You will be introduced to iWork desktop publishing and presentation. Using iWork allows you to produce professional work in a straightforward way. Through the use of practical hands-on exercises, you will learn about the software and produce your own illustrated publications using the Pages application. The course will also include an introduction to creating slide show presentations incorporating text, graphics, sound and video using the Keynote application.

Introduction to word processing and presentations.
Planning and designing a document.
Using the internet as a resource.
Setting up a single and multi page documents.
Formatting text and adding graphic elements.
Creating and playing slides shows incorporating text, graphics, video and sound (presentation).
Using and modifying templates.
Printing finished documents.
Exporting specific file formats such as PDF files and Word documents.
Design and produce basic documents with text and graphics.
Create good quality presentations.

Although previous knowledge or experience is not necessary, a basic understanding of the use of Apple Mac computers would be an advantage. The Introduction to Apple Mac (OSX) could be taken prior to this course. You should be able to follow spoken instructions, read written instructions and information, and discuss work with your tutor.
Each student has their own computer. Presentations will be made using computers, interactive whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes. Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
