This course is for learners who wish to gain a basic knowledge of computerised payroll by using Excel and Sage Payroll software.
Using Excel for basic wages calculation.
Setting up a new company in Payroll.
Creating Payment types.
Creating Deductions types including PAYE (Pay As You Earn).
Calculations in Excel and Sage Payroll.
Entering data on employers and employees.
How to record absences and holidays.
How to enter YTD and P45 information.
Printing payslips.
Recording the employee as a leaver and printing his/her P45.
Use Excel to understand the basic elements of payroll.
Enter key data into Sage Payroll.
Calculate payments and deductions in Excel.
Calculate payments and deductions in Sage Payroll.
This is an introductory course (level 1) for computerised payroll.
Having a basic knowledge of maths and working with computers, particularly Excel, would be useful.
You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions and add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Each student has their own computer.
Presentations will be made using computers, whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes.
Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.
No. You will be given notes for the course. Reference books on Sage Payroll are available in the Supported Learning Centre for learners to use.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
