Develop your graphic designs using the more advanced features of Illustrator CS. Aimed at more experienced users, the course is a chance to explore industry techniques to improve workflow. Through practical exercises you will learn to use the program more intuitively, with greater accuracy and creativity.
Using layers and guides for accuracy.
Modifying Mesh objects.
Uses and limitations of effects.
Creating perspective effects.
The appearance palette.
Creating your own symbols.
Modifying symbol instances.
Saving in web format.
Converting raster to vector artwork using the Live Trace tool.
Draw and design using advanced Illustrator CS techniques.
Create complex shapes easily.
Create and edit symbols.
Use the appearance palette.
Use the Illustrator tools to create perspective and 3D effects.
Use filters and effects effectively.
Prepare artwork for commercial print.
Export your artwork in different web formats.
This is not a beginners' course. You should have practical working knowledge of Apple Macs and have completed Illustrator:stage 1 course or have an equivalent working knowledge of the software. You should also be able to follow spoken instructions, read written instructions and information, and discuss work with your tutor.
Each student has their own computer.
Presentations will be made using computers, whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes.
Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
