You will be introduced to the database program Microsoft Access, a computerised database which stores information electronically.
The basic elements and objects of an Access database.
What factors you need to consider when planning a database.
Creating database objects (tables, forms, queries and reports).
Using queries to search and manipulate data.
Creating forms to capture data.
Developing reports to extract data.
Navigate Microsoft Access.
Name the main objects of a database.
Maintain data integrity.
Create a database including relationships, queries, forms and reports.
Interrogate the data.
Although this is a beginner's course in Access databases, you should be able to use the keyboard and mouse and understand the principles of file management. You should also be able to follow spoken and written instructions and add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Each student has their own computer.
Presentations will be made using computers, interactive whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes.
Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.
