A spreadsheet is composed of a large number of boxes or cells, laid out in orderly rows and columns.
Introduction to Excel.
Entering data.
Enhancing the appearance of the data by changing the font, colour, size and style.
Entering and deleting a column, row or sheet.
Headers and footers.
Basic formulae.
Basic functions used in calculation such as Sum, Average Maximum and Count.
Working on multiple sheets simultaneously.
Linking across sheets and other applications such as word processing.
Using spreadsheets in word documents.
Creating charts, graphs and enhancing their appearance.
Using and creating templates.
Create worksheets in Excel.
Perform calculations in Excel using formulae and functions.
Convert numerical data into charts/graphs and make changes to them.
Link worksheets and spreadsheets.
Enhance the appearance of worksheets using formatting.
Though this is an introductory course, you should be able to use a keyboard and mouse and understand the principles of file management.
You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions and add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Each student has their own computer.
Presentations will be made using computers, interactive whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes.
Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
