What is the course about?

MySQL is a Relational Database Management System and an open source programming language that can be used to create database applications for the web. MySQL is often used to store data for web sites working in conjunction with PHP.

You will learn to Create Databases, Tables, Add, Retrieve data and Manage Relationships, using phpMyAdmin client and be introduced to the PHP programming language.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- Create Databases using phpMyAdmin
- Create and add Tables to databases.
- Manipulate data from MySQL database using Data Manipulation queries
- Relate different tables from the same database
- Handle errors and corrupt data
- Introduced to PHP scripts that queries MySQL database table.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

- Knowledge of HTML. It is highly recommended that you know HTML Forms
- Completed Level 1 PHP course.
- Knowledge of any web platform scripting language, but not necessary.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Each student has their own computer.
Presentation will be made using computers, whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes
Step by step instruction, with demonstration where appropriate, will help you grasp the concept.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
