Course outline

What is the course about?

You will learn web design techniques using Microsoft Expression Web. You will use the software to create, link and format web pages.

What topics will we cover?

Identifying and using appropriate software correctly.
Importing and placing text and image files.
Amending and formatting web pages.
Inserting relative, external and e-mail hyperlinks.
Managing and printing web pages.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Create and link web pages
Understand basic HTML concepts
Amend and format web pages
Understand web page navigation.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is suitable for beginners, but you should have some basic word processing knowledge and experience of the internet. You should also be able to follow spoken instructions, read written instructions and information, and discuss work with your tutor.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Each student has their own computer.
Presentations will be made using computers, interactive whiteboard, overhead screen and printed notes.
Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
