Course outline

What is the course about?

Are you on a BSL level 2 course, or want to brush up your signing skills having passed the exam? This workshop is a great chance to practise your receptive skills with others, on a range of topics. It is also for people who are on the Level 2 in BSL course and want to brush up their receptive skills in preparation for their unit 201 exam.

What topics will we cover?

Everyday conversation and practice in receptive skills, prompted by watching video clips. The actual topics are everyday situations (social/work life).

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Show signing skills in BSL structure and features at Level 2, with a wide range of vocabulary and improved receptive skills.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is designed for those who are currently enrolled on or have completed level 2 BSL or above.
You will need to have basic literacy as you will be asked to read topics and instruction.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

- Demonstration
- Pair/group work
- Questions and answers
- Receptive Skills
- DVD receptive skills.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

DVDs and books are available from the City Lit library.
'BSL for Dummies' books can be purchased at a special price, subject to availability.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
