We will apply the thories and principles of voiceover to a variety of true to life situations during this very practical training day.
We will revise and discuss theories and principles of interpreting that apply to voiceover situations and relate these to educational settings. We will also practise putting these to use in a variety of simulated scenarios, eg 1:1 meetings and group discussion, with peer and tutor feedback.
- Feel more confident and skilled at voicing over for deaf students in a variety of situations.
- Continue applying theory to develop your skills in your future work.
You need to have signing skills equivalent to level 3 or above and be regularly working with deaf people. It would be ideal if you have already attended introductory voiceover training at City Lit or elsewhere. You will also need to be fluent in spoken English and be able to skim read preparation materials to locate subject specific vocabulary and main points.
Teaching methods used will include: small group roleplay, roleplay with a deaf 'student', class discussion, presentations DVD work and group work.
The morning session will be taught by Russell Aldersson, former lecturer at Wolverhampton University. In the afternoon he will be joined by a co-trainer to supervise and feed back on voiceover scenarios with deaf participants.
There are no other costs.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
