This course introduces you to professional notetaking skills. It also provides information about our nationally recognised Open College Network (OCN) qualification, both manual and electronic, which allows you to work professionally, supporting deaf and disabled students in education.
This course explains why notetakers are needed and which groups of learners use the service. It describes some of the skills and strategies which notektakers employ.

Implement strategies for successful notetaking.
To gain the most from the course we recommend that you have at least Level 2 English skills. You should be able to write fluently and clearly in English, using accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation. You should also have good listening and comprehension skills and be able to read out texts and express yourself clearly.
Lectures, role play, group and pair work, discussion, visiting speakers, exercises and by giving and receiving feedback about the quality of your notes.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
