A glamorous introduction to the theatrical entertainment of this expressive art form where you will learn the basics of burlesque.
A brief introduction to the history of burlesque. An introduction to the art of suggestion. Handling a feather boa and working with gloves. Freedom of expression and stage presence.
Breifly discuss some historical aspects of burlesque.
Increase your stage presence, deportment and walking style.
Handle a feather boa with confidence.
Perform the shimmy.
Recognise your ability to tantalise and tease.
Discover your personal freedom of expression through the power of suggestion.
Beginners.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions.
• Use numbers to recognise musical phrasing within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
Discussion, small group work, pair work and the group as a whole.
Bring a feather boa and long gloves. High heels are optional. Some feather boas will be provided for use on the course.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
