An introductory dance course exploring basic dance techniques and developing confidence, co-ordination, movement and technical skills.
This dance class includes contemporary, ballet and jazz dance techniques. It incorporates warm up, centre, floor, barre, simple travelling combinations and routines.
Have a greater understanding of different dance styles and which dance style you may wish to pursue further.
Have a greater body awareness and more confidence in co-ordination and linking movements together.
Feel improvements in posture, placement, control and flexibility.
An introductory course - beginners' level.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
With simple exercises in ballet, contemporary and jazz dance techniques leading to basic routines.
Dance or sports wear. It is not necessary to purchase specialist shoes. You may already own ballet or jazz shoes and are welcome to bring them. Thick cotton socks or sports socks can be used for barre work.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. You will feel physical improvements including better posture and alignment, co-ordination and placement. As well as improved confidence in learning and performing material and better knowledge to continue your studies.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
