The course will cover two popular dances the graceful Waltz from the Ballroom field and the cheeky Cha Cha Cha
Latin American dance.
Waltz:- Natural Spin Turn, Drag Hesitation, Forward and Back Locksteps and Weave; Cha Cha Cha:- Fan, Alemana, Hockeystick and Pata Cake; Steps incorporated into a simple routine that you will be able to dance in the sessions and outside the classroom environment.
Perform and dance the Waltz and the Cha ChaCha styles with correct footwork.
Use the correct tempo of music for the two dance styles.
Demonstrate as a leader and follower with different partners.
The course is aimed at those who have completed the beginner’s course which covers the basic foundation of the two dances or those with the relevant experience.
In order to get the most from the course you must be able to:
Follow verbal instructions.
Use numbers to recognise musical phrasing within dance
Work within groups and pairs safely.
The tutor will initially demonstrate the steps separately for the leaders and followers and also give verbal instructions on how to dance the steps. You will practice dancing the steps in groups then with a partner to music.
There will be no work outside the class but you will be given handouts regarding the steps taught, so you will be able to practice the steps at home.
You are advised to wear loose fitting clothes, no trainers, flip-flops or sling back shoes comfortable well fitting closed in shoes, ideally with a smooth non-slip sole and to bring a drink.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
