The course provides an overview of the role of the film director and provides practical techniques and tools for use on participant’s projects.
The key creative parts of the directors craft: visual storytelling and directing actors. In addition an overview of the collaborators a director will work with, preproduction methods and the role of the director in an industry context.
Approach the shooting of the scene using the camera as a storytelling tool through use of a set of visual considerations.
Structure auditions and rehearsals in a way that is of maximum use to the process of telling the story.
Breakdown a scene using preproduction methods.
This course presumes no previous knowledge.
The course is taught as a group. There is no work outside the class.
