You will gain the required skills to feel confident in teaching a variety of drama workshops. You will structure a complete workshop. You will have information on how to research various styles of leading workshops. Practical guidance on gaining employment as a drama tutor/workshop leader will be given. Also further training opportunities.
You will cover structuring lesson plans and schemes of work. The importance of health and safety in the workshop environment will be covered. You will explore practical drama exercises, to build a personal workshop portfolio. You will explore planning workshops for diverse groups. You will explore various teaching styles. There will be an opportunity for the you to have practical input each week.
Run a workshop/drama class of your choice at a professional level and for diverse groups. You may require two terms to achieve this level.
You will be able to explore the option of further teacher training and be given the relevant information.
This course is for learners who wish to explore teaching drama as an option. Previous acting, teaching, coaching experience is essential.
You will be taught by an experienced workshop leader. There will be the opportunity to lead your own workshop.
You will work in various sized groups, or as an individual. There will be some forward planning for the next session required.
You are required to wear loose clothing and suitable footwear. Please bring notebook and pens to all sessions. You may be required to supply your own equipment for your individual workshop.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
