This is an introductory course for actors with some singing experience who wish to refine their vocal and interpretative technique through song and learn how to be successful in the Musical Theatre audition process.
Preparation for the audition, presentation and interpretation of audition pieces. Guidance in choosing the right songs.
Perform and interpret a song in an audition setting with improved technique and confidence.
For actors with some experience of singing.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen actively and communicate clearly.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Read and analyse lyrics to find meaning and clarity.
• Take notes.
• Use numbers to recognise rhythm.
A brief group warm up and then individual coaching of songs on a workshop basis.
Sheet music. Dictaphones or other recording devices would be very useful.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
