Course outline

What is the course about?

An introduction to the techniques of modern illusionary mime.

What topics will we cover?

Through improvisation and exercises, we will learn to develop new skills in order to communicate our ideas visually.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- Understanding the fundamental skills and techniques of modern mime, i.e. fixed point, pushing, pulling, lifting, levels and character work.
- Apply these techniques within a wide range of theatrical situations.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginners.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Take part in class discussions.
• Read a script and/or related text.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Group, solo work - developed through various exercises and improvisations.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Loose, comfortable clothing should be worn.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Continual feedback throughout the course.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?
