To provide you with a working knowledge of introductory film fighting techniques. Both unarmed and armed combat will be covered and a constant emphasis placed on safety and creating reality for the camera.
The course is practical, with all weapons and instruction provided. The class sessions will consist of learning then filming choreography, and giving feedback on filmed fights. An emphasis will be placed on safety and proper set technique.
Safely perform a realistic film fight sequence in three different weapon styles.
Demonstrate an awareness of safe technique for rehearsing a film fight sequence.
Demonstrate an awareness of film set etiquette.
Realise character, emotion and narrative through the use of body and movement.
While no previous knowledge is necessary, the course is most suitable for those with prior stage combat training.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken and written instructions.
• Listen to complex information and respond appropriately.
• Work within a group and pairs safely.
• Understand and use numbers.
This is a practical course where teaching is done by instructor demonstration followed by students working in pairs. Feedback will be based on both live and filmed sequences.
You will need sturdy gloves (leather/canvas/suede) and a notebook. Please wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing and training shoes with a good grip. A nominal fee (£5) will be charged for those wishing to have a DVD of their work.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
