This intensive one-day course gives you the experience of a professional audition process in both group and one-to-one situations. A genuine competitive element will see two students selected for the make- believe ‘job’ in a touring childrens’ theatre production at the end of the day. Please prepare and bring with you an audition piece suitable for a children's touring theatre and a comedy song.
Group movement and voice warm-ups; individual auditions, including sight-reading; positive but critical feedback; advice for future professional auditions.
• Give a confident audition.
• Identify what makes a strong audition.
• Prepare more thoroughly for a professional audition.
• Develop your ability in sight-reading.
• Assimilate and give positive but critical feedback.
The course is open to everyone but is ideal for working actors who wish to sharpen their approach to professional auditions.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Speak English fluently.
• Communicate in group situations.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Sight- read a given text with minimum preparation.
• Take course notes for your own use.
All class work will be practical. You need to prepare a two-minute audition speech and a comedy song (which will be unaccompanied) prior to the day.
You need to bring the text of a prepared two-minute modern audition piece appropriate for childrens’ touring theatre. Loose clothing should be worn and you should bring a pen and notebook to make course notes.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
