Achieving your potential in auditions and increasing your chances of success. Combating nerves. Choosing suitable material. The do's and don'ts of auditioning. Enjoying and embracing - not dreading - the experience. Allowing your true self to shine through.
Exercises for combating nerves including breathing and relaxation. Choosing suitable material. Where to look for speeches. The panel's expectation. Audition speeches. Cold reading. The interview. Question and answer session, including advice on photos. CV's, agents and casting directors.
Understand the reason why actors sometimes fail to show potential.
Feel more confident to audition in a variety of situations including drama school, theatre, TV/film.

You should have some drama training as we will be looking at drama school and professional auditions.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Communicate clearly in discussion and drama practice.
• Read and respond to a variety of text.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
This is a practical course. There will be group discussion, group work, solo and pair work including optional audition speeches and cold reading.
Please bring: a notebook and pen; audition material or books if you have them; a copy of the 'Contacts' handbook if you have one; and any photos and CV's.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
