Course outline

What is the course about?

Understanding the need to network in order for you to gain more work as an actor. Gaining the skills to network more easily.

What topics will we cover?

Identifying the need to network, getting rid of negative thoughts, being confident in a networking situation, understanding rapport, and practical tips on where to go to meet people.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Be excited about going along to a networking event, with a number of tools and tips to make it work for you.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Basic. No previous experience necessary.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Take part in class discussions.
• Read a script and/or related text.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Individual exercises with group discussion. Brainstorming and also practical networking within the group.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No other costs. Full workshop pack material will be provided.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Moving from feeling apprehensive about networking and not knowing what to say, to feeling excited about meeting new people.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
