A highly disciplined form of the arts and the grounding, for the base of all dance styles. This introductory course is aimed at those students who might be thinking about enrolling on to a regular class without making a long term commitment. The class will take a slow and careful look at the classical technique and introduce the structure of a typical ballet class.
Barre work, centre practice, adage and allegro work.
Understand the structure of a typical ballet class
Perform a range of basic classical steps
Display improved co-ordination
Have an appreciation of music and its function.
Beginners or those with some basic knowledge.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
As a whole group and individually.
Please wear clothing that does not restrict your movement and allows you to adapt to changes in your body temperature. Tights. Leotard or clothing that does not restricct movement will allow your tutor to see your work more clearly. Ballet shoes either canvas or leather with elastics. Jock straps should be worn by men. Students to tie their hair back if it is long for their own saftey and comfort. No jewerly to be worn during class.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. .
