Want to be in a short film? Are you an actor who has some experience in devising? Working over a term, you and your class will devise then shoot two short films. This course is inspired by the work of 'This is England' film director and BAFTA winner Shane Meadows.

You will be asked to devise two short films, with the opportunity to be involved in both the acting and the shooting of the films, thus learning the many aspects of the processes of low-budget film-making.
Acting on camera,
Improvisation and devising,
The basic principles of low budget film-making and its relevance to actors.
Act confidently using improvisation in front of the camera.
Have an understanding of the basics of film-making.
Be able to work collaboratively with others to make short films for little or no budget.
Intermediate. You should have some experience of devising and improvisation in theatre and feel comfortable working without scripts. The course is primarily aimed at actors and directors who are interested in exploring the acting process.
By working with the tutor, TV studio manager and others in the group in collaboration to produce the script for the short film. The tutor will work in the director’s role, overseeing the shoot and directing the students in front of the camera.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Speak English fluently and clearly .
• To read a script accurately.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes .
You will need to buy a personal DVD.
Yes. Before you can enrol on this course, you need to have an advisory interview with the relevant department. Without this the enrolment team will be unable to process your enrolment. Please contact the department to arrange your interview, or to find out about drop-in sessions.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
