Course outline

What is the course about?

Storytelling is about listening, sharing and telling stories. During the course we will look at both personal and traditional stories and explore ways of telling stories in a fun and engaging way.

What topics will we cover?

Learning tools for communicative Storytelling.
Exploring performance skills.
Looking at narrative structure in different types of stories.
We will combine theory and practice while engaging and having fun.
There will be a sharing of work in the last session.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Feel more confident in telling a story and engaging an audience.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a beginners level course, no previous experience is needed.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback
• Take part in class discussions
• Read and listen to stories
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

In group exercises and individually with feedback from the tutor.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
