We will begin by learning how to stop pretending, in improvisation, based on David Mamet’s quote, “invent nothing, deny nothing”. We will then maintain this new sense of reality and find a new approach to text work, using physical memory. You will learn to improvise truthfully and to keep a sense of freedom when working a text.
Trust, status, objectives and obstacles, Meisner technique, improvisation, actions, physical memory, Steiner work, text and use of props.

The course is for committed students as the learning path is quite steep and tasks set can be quite challenging.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Communicate clearly in discussion and drama practice.
• Read and respond to a variety of text.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
