You will learn and experiment with classic American steps including paddle-and-rolls, flaps, riffs and ripples. Together we will discover how to put steps together to make up a routine and perform as a group. All students will be encouraged to perform steps and sequences solo.

Perform the basic American time steps.
Perform various classic American steps.

Perform a fun routine.
This course is ideal for students who have completed the Stage 1 beginners course or have a basic knowledge of tap.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
As a group and individually.
It is essential to have good shoes and tap shoes are necessary for this class. Having the correct shoes can really improve your technique and give you a much better feeling for the style of dance. The tap shoes should be fitted with tap plates using screw fittings (no rivets). Specialised stockists such as Gamba, Freed and Dancia, which have outlets in and around Covent Garden can provide appropriate footwear. Clothing should be comfortable and loose.
No.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Students are assessed at each lesson individually and as a group. Assessment is based on students ability to complete the lesson plan of the day (i.e. ability to perform given steps and each new sequence of the routine). Flair, style and confidence are assessed with performance in mind.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
