What is the course about?

A fun introduction aimed at those who want to enrol on a regular class without making commitment by attending a short taster. A highly disciplined form of the arts and the grounding for the base of all dance styles.

What topics will we cover?

Barre work, centre practice, adage and allegro work. The standard French vocabulary will be used.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Understand the format of a typical ballet class and its components, as mentioned above.
Use a range of compound steps and the techniques to perform them.
Show improved co-ordination and body alignment.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginners.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions.
• Use numbers to recognise musical phrasing within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Individual and group work.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please wear loose clothing and ballet or soft jazz shoes.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Through tutor observation/correction.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
