This released based contemporary class is a dynamic and fun experience. Simple movement phrases are built upon to develop greater awareness of the body. Floor, centre and travelling exercises lead to efficiency of movement and free flowing dance sequences.

You will learn the basics of contemporary dance, release-based technique. Understanding the principles of the body in movement and apply them to memorise and perform dance sequences.
The class will consist of floor work, centre and co-ordination practice and travelling across the floor.
Identify basic contemporary dance terms and technique.
Recognise an increased range of movement.
Use greater flexibility, co-ordination and balance
Demonstrate increased strength, stamina and control of movement.
Beginners.
Group work in a well equipped, modern sprung floor studio with music. It is essential to be ready to start on time.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
Bare feet or anti-grip socks should be used except in exceptional cases to be discussed with the teacher. Students are to tie their hair back if it is long for their own safety and comfort.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
