Course outline

What is the course about?

To introduce students to the craft of acting.

What topics will we cover?

Physical, Vocal and mental flexibility.
Improvisation exercises and solo text work.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Understanding more specifically the Craft and art of Acting.
Feel confident about pursuing other acting/theatre classes.
Work collaboratively with others.
Be able to prepare and perform an audition speech.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginners.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Take part in class discussions.
• Read a script and/or related text.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

In group work, in pairs and solo.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Students are required to wear suitable loose clothing for movement work. To wear flexible shoes or be prepared to work in bare feet at times. To look for audition material (guidance will be given).

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Tutor oral feedback.
Group feedback and self assessment.
Personal Statement of Learning.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?
