Course outline

What is the course about?

A fun and prctical introduction to the core skills of acting.

What topics will we cover?

Practical exploration of key elements in acting, e.g. objectives, physicality, focus, energy, atmosphere, language and dramatic form.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

Develop an appreciation of how the actor works
Experience a range of approaches to acting
Enhance personal sense of creativity
Begin to work collaboratively and constructively with others
Be prepared for further study.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginners.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Take part in class discussions.
• Read a script and/or related text.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Solo, pair and group practical work. Some group discussion.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Loose clothing should be worn for classes since work will be practical. If students require photocopies of background material there will be small additional charge.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Continuous feedback during course.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
