As a newcomer to the discipline, I found the course a good introduction to musical theatre. We learnt about the basic techniques of dancing and singing in the morning and worked through an acting exercise in the afternoon. We also prepared a short song and dance excerpt from an Irving Berlin musical. It helps to have had some experience of music, dance and drama, but the tutors were very supportive and made an effort to be inclusive. Despite a small number of participants (three), the class still had quite a bit of energy.
