I have just completed the Alexander Technique course - this was the third time I did the course and I can honestly say that each time I learnt something new! The tutor has a wealth of knowledge on the subject and is so passionate about it that I felt that her passion rubbed off on me! The learning environment was very supportive and encouraging and everyone was given the chance to contribute and report their own findings from class and also home exercises. I so looked forward to lying on the floor and listening to the tutor and what my body was telling me about the tensions that I hold on it. Not mentioning of course the highlight of the sessions - the performances and feedback from the tutor and other class members!! This time I found that I have actually learnt to free my voice amongst so many other things like increased body awareness and usage, balance and presence, grounding and standing my ground to name but a few. In addition, I have come away with such a simple but powerful technique that I can use any time - lying down in the semi-supine position and letting gravity do the rest!! I am tempted to repeat the course, hopefully in the summer term, and I am already excited about what my new discoveries will be!

Wow - what a course - if you ask people about what they think the course is about everyone says its about how to sit down properly - well it's much more than this - it's how to walk, lie down, sit, speak/present/sing etc properly (but not as you think). It will save you from many future and current health problems. Everyone should do this course! It's well paced/relaxing/intriguing...

Amazing course! not only have I learned to identify (and so begin to release) tension in my neck and throat which, for years, has made talking and teaching increasingly hard work, I have learned some basic posture improvements that have opened a door to a whole new level of my piano-playing. I have enrolled to repeat the course!

I did this course 2 years ago and have continued studying the Alexander technique ever since. The course has really taught me to work with my body and to enhance my acting by making subtle changes to the way I move myself. I am constantly surprised by how powerful this technique is! The teaching on this course is really supportive and knowledgeable and I would recommend it to any performers out there who are seeking to add another dimension to their performance.

my experience of this course has been invaluable; i use the skills gained in my daily life; it is also incredibly useful in my current occupation as a life drawing model as i can keep still while relaxed during posing. I found the course skills to have stayed with me long after the course- i repeated the course a couple of times and i ve been using the alexander technique principles over the last three years. It has changed the way i am in visible ways, ie i can stay still , i am aware of the way my body behaves and i have the knowledge to treat it better as a result.

Really good introduction to the key tenets of the Alexander technique, essential for self-perception and analysis of how your own body impacts upon your performance, and invaluable to helping develop characters.

An excellently taught and enjoyable course, shows how an awareness of the way you hold and use your body can positively effect performance. Highly recommended!

I came to this having heard about AT but knowing little about it and wanting to learn more. I found the way it is taught rather unsystematic to my logical mind. This randomness seems to be part of the mystique. My biggest problem was hearing the verbal instructions clearly, partly (but not entirely) because of the acoustics in the high-ceilinged, echoey studio, but also because the tutor had an unclear voice which did not allow me to catch more than one word in three however hard I tried to concentrate. Eventually I gave up listening. I enjoyed some of the practical work and, although I felt there was something I must be missing, a comparison with clips of AT on YouTube showed that we had covered more of the main points than I had thought. I think, however, that I've found out as much as I want to know for now.

Before I joined the course I had read that Alexander technique was for relaxation, alternative medicine, correct posture, similar to Pilates and various other things. After completing the course, I realised it was much more than any of these things.

During the course, each time I progressed a bit further and did feel that I was getting something worthwhile out of it. I started to get results almost instantly, helping me on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. I would definetely recommend this course!
