A chance for you to choose a piece for your first auditions. Whether for other courses at City Lit, for productions on the fringe or for short films, having an audition piece that you have made your own will be a huge advantage. This course will take you through the process of getting to know your piece, learning it and being able to play it in various ways according to what a director may suggest.

How best to memorise your piece.
Delivery of your piece - (Where to put eye-line, who am I addressing? etc )
Presentation of piece (the first impression, the chat!).
Perform as an audition piece a solo speech or monologue with integrity.

Experiment with movement and improve vocal clarity.
For beginners, or those who have done an introductory course in acting.
In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Communicate clearly in discussion and drama practice.
• Read and respond to a variety of text.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.
In large group, small groups, pairs and one to ones.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. There will be feedback from the tutor and the group throughout the class and self-assessment.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
