Course outline

What is the course about?

An energising and uplifting workout to improve your strength, flexibility and coordination using exciting sensual oriental rhythms. Increase your suppleness the Middle Eastern way by interpreting exotic sounds into rhythm and movement.

What topics will we cover?

- Belly rolls
- Shimmy
- Hip bumps
- Gentle back bends
- Camel walk
- Figure eights.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- Demonstrate basic steps
- Name and demonstrate some basic moves
- Circle hips in a variety of figure eights
- Practise simple combinations with guidance
- Choose Arab-Egyptian style music suitable for an eastern style workout
- Improvise a short sequence.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is suitable for beginners and people with some experience. You will work at your own pace. Men may also enjoy this workout.

You will need to be able to read and write short sentences, follow verbal instructions, observe and copy physical movements and use spatial awareness within a group.

Learners are encouraged to practise movements outside of class.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

None.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?
