An introduction to the theoretical and practical aspects of reflexology. You will practise reflexology and massage techniques on the hands and feet, in pairs, discovering how to relax and revitalise the whole being.

- Relationship between feet and physical body
- Practical work in pairs: massage on feet.
- Safely demonstrate the basic skills of foot massage and practically perform these skills on fellow students
- Improve receiver's ability to relax and relieve stress
- Gain awareness of common reflexes and their locations
- Recognise some contra-indications to reflexology
- Give a short treatment to yourself and friends.
Introductory level - no previous knowledge required. You are required to read and write short sentences, follow verbal instructions and extract information from handouts.

If you have not checked, or if it is not suitable, please do not participate in a bodywork class/course.

If accepted onto a course, a student could be given alternative practical tasks and adjustments may be made where reasonable. However, a student could be asked to leave the course if a situation arose which could endanger the well being of that student, or another student. It is for instance not suitable to work on another student, if you are taking medication that affects your concentration or if you have uncontrolled fits which could cause a danger to others during a relevant activity.

It is not necessary for students to buy any books for this course as all relevant information will be provided on handouts. It would be useful for the student to bring with them the following items: foot powder, wet wipes, plasters, tissues, a towel, some writing materials and a folder for any handouts.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

Students can go on to accredited courses in reflexology and enjoy further study in many of the alternative therapy classes, e.g. Aromatherapy, Shiatsu.
