Course outline

What is the course about?

Learn the principles of blending essential oils with READY MADE, unscented base products (cleansers, moisturisers, shower gels) to enhance your own beauty products. PLEASE NOTE: The course does not include how to actually make base products and is not suitable for those wishing to make products on a commercial basis.

What topics will we cover?

- Knowledge of a few popular aromatherapy oils
- The use of cream as a suitable base for making beauty products
- Blending of synergistic oils
- Therapeutic nature of chosen oils
- Suitable blends for face, hands and body.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- Name at least 5 popular aromatherapy oils
- Identify at least 3 suitable base products
- Create one or two blends that are synergistic for use on hands, face and/or body
- Name some therapeutic benefits of the chosen oils.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an introductory course for those wishing to learn principles to enhance ready-made beauty products with essential aromatherapy oils. You will need to be able to understand percentages, using halves and quarters; locate information using handouts and books; listen and identify main points and participate in discussions.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Teaching methods will include:
Lecture
Practical demonstration
Pair and small group work
Question and answer.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Essential oils will be provided.
It is useful to bring a small clear plastic bowl and wooden spatulas for blending (plastic bowls can be purchased at major supermarkets).
You will also need to bring 50ml of non-perfumed base cream/product (these can be purchased from any company or shop that sells aromatherapy products). You may also like to bring a dark coloured plastic or glass RESEALABLE jar to take your newly created product home with you.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

No.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
