An opportunity to learn the basic massage skills and achieve a sense of relaxation. You will also learn to recognise how tension is held in the body with reference to the underlying anatomy and muscular structure.

- Introducing the body's muscular structure and relating this to massage
- Introducing basic anatomy.
- Improve your ability to relax and feel confident in giving basic massage.
- Have the opportunity to practise asking for what you want.
- Feel a greater degree of communication and intimacy.
- Display a basic knowledge of anatomy.
- Attain more and better skills with further practice.
- Perform a variety of massage strokes on a partner.
The course is for women only. No previous knowledge required. You are required to read and write short sentences, follow verbal instructions and extract information from handouts.

If you have not checked, or if it is not suitable, please do not participate in a bodywork class/course.

- Knee Problems (for Shiatsu, Thai massage and introductory massage courses only)

If accepted onto a course, a student could be given alternative practical tasks and adjustments may be made where reasonable. However, a student could be asked to leave the course if any situation were to arise which could endanger the well being of that student, or any other student. It is for instance not suitable to work on another student, if you are taking medication that affects your concentration or if you have uncontrolled fits which could cause a danger to others during a relevant activity.

You will need to bring with you to class the following items:
- 3 large towels (one for underneath, two for the top)
- Antiseptic wet wipes (for hand and feet cleaning)
- Base oil(e.g. olive, almond or grapeseed) for massage purposes. Choose a suitable oil for your skin type and one that you are happy to have applied to your body. *Please note: If you are allergic to nuts, choose an oil that is not nut-based.

Please also be aware that personal hygiene is an important aspect to consider when practicing massage as you will be in close contact with other people.

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.
Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
