You will learn about Lymphatic Drainage massage and the underlying related anatomy and physiology. This course provides a progressive learning structure which will provide students, who already have the ITEC Holistic Massage Diploma, with an added skill.
Additional information
You should be aware that a minimum 80% attendance is necessary to complete the course. You are also expected to practise to the best of your ability and to adhere to the colleges Equal Opportunities Policy while undertaking the course. The policies of the college will be discussed during the first session.
Please note that you are required to hold a current First Aid certificate to be able to work as a bodywork therapist.
Due to the nature of this course, you will not be entitled to transfer to a different course after the course has started.

- Anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic and transport systems in the body
- Connective tissue, substance transport, contra-indications and treatment guidelines
- Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage techniques
- Massage dosage.
- Perform the opening movements of Lymphatic Drainage Massage to face, arms, legs, abdomen, back and nape of neck
- Be able to undertake ITEC Manual Lymphatic Drainage examinations (practice and theory)
- Provide your existing clients with a new therapy.
ITEC Level 3
Students will need to have successfully completed the ITEC Holistic Massage Diploma, or equivalent. Applicants should be regularly practising massage and have kept up to date on anatomy and physiology.
You should be able to use different texts and summarise information; produce legible handwritten text; have basic computer skills and be able to present information clearly and persuasively.

Students with any of the listed conditions should attach written letters of approval from their GP with their application form. Without these letters, any consideration for acceptance onto a course can be denied. It will also be at the discretion of the tutor team and head of programme whether candidates are suitable for placement.
The course content will be both theoretical and practical. Teaching methods used will include: talk by tutor; group work; pair work; massage work; movement work; completing Case Histories.( 3 clients treated 3 times)
Exam dates:
Theory: 10/7/12
Practical:17/7/12.
Please wear loose clothing for massage sessions. Course books, paper, folder. For the Examination you will need a white uniform, white towels and sundries.
This course requires the completion of an application form.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. Assessment will be through students completing:
1. Practical Exam - examined by an external examiner from ITEC.
2. Theory exam - marked by ITEC.
3. 9 ( 3 clients treated 3 times) Case Studies to be handed in to ITEC practical examiner.
