On-site massage combines shiatsu and massage techniques incorporating acupressure points and meridians. You will also be introduced to the theory behind stress management for your benefit and for your clients.

This is a follow on course from the ITEC Holistic Massage Diploma and is an extensive course covering many theoretical and practical aspects of On Site Massage. An Introduction to the theory of stress - its causes, effects and possible treatments. There will be a progressive learning structure which involves the participants assessing their own stress levels with the aid of a stress diary. You will be required to obtain a standard to undertake the examination set by ITEC (International Therapy
Examination Council).

1. You should be aware that a minimum of 80% attendance is necessary to complete the course.
You are also expected to participate to the best of your ability and to adhere to the colleges

- 20 minute clothed on-site massage routine from a Shiatsu perspective including acupressure points.
3 case studies . i.e. 3 people treated 3 times each. - to include an evaluation of clients stress levels.
Practical Work: The course will introduce the practical application of the theoretical topics of treating stress. The practical work will also focus on massage which will be limited to those parts of the body easily accessible in a work situation with clothes on, capable of being conducted at the desk or work station or in a specific chair in a 20 minute period.

- Identify contraindications to on-site massage
- Perform a 20 minute on-site massage through clothing - working on head, neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands.
- Locate meridians on the back and arms
- Locate acupressure points on the back, the arms and hands
- Define the term stress
- Recognise the physiological, emotional, psychological and behavioural effects of stress and the signs and symptoms
- Practise a variety of methods to reduce stress in yourself and others
- Reach the required standard to take and pass the ITEC exams.
Students need to:
- Be ITEC graduates of Holistic Massage Diploma or the equivalent
- Have studied anatomy and physiology to ITEC diploma standard
- Be able to demonstrate a positive, safe and caring presence
You should be able to: use different texts and summarise information, produce legible handwritten text, have basic computer skills, and be able to present information clearly and persuasively
- Be able to manage your own areas of vulnerabilities
Only applicants who have successfully completed the ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage and have completed the application form will be considered for acceptance onto the course.
