What is the course about?

This course will help you improve your English language skills and prepare you for the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Holistic Massage. You will develop therapist skills and techniques vital to a career in massage whilst working towards a nationally recognised English qualification at Level 1.

What topics will we cover?

You will focus on client consultation, the language of massage, anatomy and physiology and will undertake a project in preparation for the Diploma course.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- create a sample project using a variety of presentation formats to include graph, chart, written word, spider diagram and pictorial evidence
- interpret and further develop your understanding of the medical terminology used within the ITEC Level 3 qualification in holistic massage
- identify the key areas in client consultation and complete a treatment evidence form
- identify and interpret the main points and ideas from different texts, charts and graphs
- write information in different formats using accurate spelling and punctuation
- present information clearly - verbally and in writing.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

To get the most from this course you need to be able to read short pieces of text, write at least a paragraph in complete sentences, and spell everyday words correctly. You are required to have completed two introductory level courses: anatomy and physiology and body work therapy such as holistic massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, shiatsu or thai massage.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught in a variety of ways including:
- interactive group work
- tutor presentation
- written work
- role play
- discussion
- question and answer
You will be asked to study outside the classroom and complete a short assignment each week.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You will need pen and pencil, paper, a ring binder folder, index sections for the folder.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

This course requires the completion of an application form. There will be a group interview.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?

Please complete the evaluation form at the end of your course. These are monitored and help us to continually improve our courses.
