Course outline

What is the course about?

This course will be a natural progression if you have completed Traditional Thai Massage Foundation course ( Stage 1 ) You will consolidate your work from Stage 1, perform further stretching techniques, and complete a further 10 case studies. This course will deepen your practice and enable you to undertake theory and practical examinations so that you are able to practise professionally and gain insurance to do so. Please note that you are required to attend a minimum of 80% attendance in order to go forward toward examination, and you must hold a current First Aid certificate.

What topics will we cover?

Consolidation of previous work, further stretching techniques, foot therapy points, Introduction to Yin/ Yang theory, an introduction for 4 element theory and a further 15 case studies.

Practical exam date:12/3/12.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- Consolidate your work from Stage 1 Foundation
- Grasp the basic concepts of yin/yang theory
- Describe the 4 element theory
- Perform further stretching techniques
- Perform a further 10 case study treatments
- Undertake theory and practical examinations.

Students with any of the listed medical conditions should attach written letters of approval from their GP with their application form. Without these letters, any consideration for acceptance onto a course can be denied. It will also be at the discretion of the tutor team and head of programme whether candidates are suitable for placement.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Lecture, pair work, small group work, word storming, question and answer, practical demonstration.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please wear loose comfortable clothing for practical work. Some course books may be recommended but not essential as handouts will be provided by the tutor. Colouring pencils will be useful when learning Sen. lines.

Do I need to have an interview before I can enrol?

This course requires the completion of an application form.

What feedback will I get?

You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. At the end of the course you and your tutor are asked to assess the progress you have made. There will be a theory and practical exam at the end of the course. Your case studies will be assessed by the tutor and externally verified by the visiting examiner.

How will I be able to give my views on the course?
