Course outline

What is the course about?

Biodanza® is for anyone who wants to live life to the full, who wants love, vitality, fun, health and harmony. Developed by anthropologist Rolando Toro, it is a unique system of natural movement, dance and expression with vibrant world music that frees the body and opens the heart.

This highly experiential course will introduce you to the experience of 'vivencia' (living in the present moment).

Dancing and responding to carefully chosen music with your own unique, authentic and natural movements you will gradually reconnect with the essence of who you are and integrate your inner life with the outer world to restore life, love, joy, beauty and wisdom back into our human tribe. We have grown accustomed to living in an externally focussed existence, busy doing lots of things, isolating ourselves from each other, and consequently losing touch and connection with our natural instincts.

The classes will guide you through a series of dances designed to enable you to express your own vitality and harmony and to connect you with your feelings in the "here and now". Each class will consist of about 12 dances/exercises, lively and joyful for the start of the class, then harmonic and in slow motion for the next part of the class. In the class we will do some dances on our own, some with another member of the group and some (such as tribal dances) as a whole group.

Without the need to learn complicated steps, you are free to discover your own creativity and your own unique response to the music, through this you will regain your sense of self and well-being.

The World Health Organisation has redefined health to include psychological health and this, put simply translates as being happy. Since happiness comes from being able to express ourselves, then Biodanza, which helps us to let go of our thoughts and find a true expression of ourselves is a wonderful means to achieve this.

*The trade mark Biodanza® is registered in the UK to Patricia Martello.
