Course outline

What is the course about?

The White Crane Chi Kung sequence helps balance Yin and Yang in the body; it promotes concentration and awareness by using a combination of postures and movements to help with stability, co-ordination, flexibility and flow.

What topics will we cover?

The course will cover some key principles and philosophy of Chi Kung. The White Crane sequence consists of a series of movements. The classes will be broken down into manageable sections, using some warm up exercises and static postures to help reinforce the sequence.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

- carry out safe warm up exercises related to the White Crane sequence
- demonstrate all relevant static postures
- maintain movements from the centre
- maintain one leg stance
- perform forward and backward weighted stances
- observe the smooth, circular flow of the movements.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You will need to be able to read and write short sentences; follow verbal instructions; observe and copy physical movements and have the ability to use spatial awareness within a group. Previous knowledge of Chi Kung is preferred but not essential.
