Chi Kung is a simple form of movement exercise. Chi is our energy, our life force and kung is the practice in order to gain the experience of the work. It is easy to learn and very relaxing. Working with a series of slow, gentle movements, breath awareness and slow walking the body is energised and strengthened. Chi awareness is heightened through regular practice.
The course will include a brief outline on the key principles and philosophy of Chi Kung. It will cover a variety of gentle warm-up exercises (opening the joints); the key points for establishing the Wu Chi stance; grounding exercises; movements from the centre; slow walking; clearing exercises and meditation.
- Practise warm up exercises
- Relate to and connect with the chi
- Practise some basic chi kung movements
- Practise some basic chi kung walks
- Practise clearing exercises
- Experience a more relaxed state of mind/body
- Practise sitting meditation.
This is a beginners' course so no previous knowledge of Chi Kung is required. If you have some experience you are welcome to join the class to practice the movements.
You will need to be able to read and write short sentences; follow verbal instructions; observe and copy physical movements and have the ability to use spatial awareness within a group.
